Loves His Weird Dreams

August 15, 2009

Hey Hey hey!

Well, I couldn't have written much later today. But, if ya'll wanna know where I've been today, just look at a map and find the most western part of South America. Yep! The office missionaries drove out to a little town called Negritos, and walked along the beach line until we got to a little mountain that has a light house – which put us at the most western point of the continent. It was pretty cool. Oh, and before that, Negritos has a little four lane bowling alley. Haha! Guess who went bowling for 50 cents? Me. It's such a random place for a bowling alley…I mean, Peru has like two – and the other is in Lima. So one in the biggest city in the country, and the other in a small little port town with maybe a couple thousand people. Whatever, it was sweet. No machines or anything, so you have to set the pins up by hand, haha. It was really cool. After we bowled we walked out to the lighthouse and chilled out there for a while. I got some good pictures. If you look at the fotos I sent, there is a pic of four of us with the water behind us and the lighthouse on a hill WAY FAR away. We walked all along the shore down there and a few of us wadded around in the water by the rocks - that's with all the rock and water pictures, and the crab stuff. Then we hiked up that rock mountain (barefoot because Elder Velez ran off with our sandals) and took some more pics higher up. It was sweet...hiking that kinda killed my feet, though. But it was well worth it. Cool beach. I was glad that after going on a two week separation that my camera and I were able to patch up our relationship and work well together again - well, better anyway. It still struggles with inside pics for some reason, as you might have noticed with the bowling pics. During the drive back I fell asleep and had a dream that I woke up in a hospital from a coma. After that I couldn't sleep because I thought it was vision that Elder Calderon was gonna crash and kill us…or, put us all in a coma. (Speaking of comas, Jordan, or Brad, go listen to "Coma" by Muse and enjoy it for me. Better yet, I want Mom to do it.) And being at the beach all day made me super dark (from the neck up, and the arms - but still, dark), and burned Elders Larsen and Bates big time. So, hopefully I'm pulling off the Latino look a bit better now – and people will stop making fun of me for being white. Haha- jk. Oh, something funny I forgot to tell you earlier. They call Americans like me as "colored people" here. Man, it's interesting being such a minority! Anyway, it was a cool Prep Day.

This week…was just wonderful. We weren't able to get in contact with Kengi this week because his dad took him to Lima for "business." His dad doesn't like us at all, so I expect he spent the whole 14 hour bus ride and entire week giving Kengi misinformation about the Church so he will not get baptized. So we haven't seen him all week, which has been a bit sad. Hopefully, we will still be able to help him. But we did find another less active family with a nine year old girl who we began teaching. A really nice family. And the little girl, Karla, is just the smartest and most mature little thing I have ever met. They are all gonna come to church tomorrow, so we'll see if we can get them activated again. Karla is funny, the other night we were teaching them and asked if they could come to church, and the mom started saying… "Well, I dunno…" and Karla cut her off and said: "Well, I'm going, with or without you!" Haha, she's so cool.

Funny story, yesterday I was walking and saw a mother getting on the back of a motorcycle, placing her very small baby in between herself and the guy driving the motorcycle. Good ol Peru. I found out tonight that I have to give a talk tomorrow. I can't decide what to do, although I like Dad's theme of builders/wreckers in his family devotional this week, and will probably build a talk from that. I

That's about what came out for this week – besides that, lots of office work and running errands. Oh, and I had another dream last night that I was driving Mom's Sequoia with Brad in the front passenger seat and couldn't get used to driving an automatic again and ended up driving off of a cliff. (Oops, sorry Brad.) Man, I have had some weird dreams lately, eh? I hope they aren't actually revelations. I had a lot of good study this week. I just love having personal study everyday – it's awesome. The Book of Mormon just has so much cool stuff in it. That and being a missionary is just the best thing ever. It's weird that time is going by fast, and now in less than a year I will actually be back home. Barely less than a year, haha, but still it's weird. I am absolutely loving my time out here. I got Whitney's card this week, confirming that the package I sent got there. Glad to hear, because it seems like lately a lot of mail we send to the states hasn't been getting there. Glad you got it. Oh, and what may be the most important news of this week . . . congrats to Brad! No more selling! Huzzah! Best wishes to Kelli and Jason - sorry I will miss the temple sealing Saturday. Oh yeah, and happy almost birthday, Dad. Anyway, the Church is true. Ya'll just keep on livin' it well.
